Facilitating projects can be very different from more formal and traditional ways of teaching.
Whilst sixth formers and older groups of students may need little or no teacher input, Year 11 and younger benefit from teacher guidance and oversight – mainly keeping them on track, helping with assessment, review and reflection, and providing support and encouragement.
Because the work on the project is carried out by the students themselves, an essential element is keeping them enthusiastic and organised.
In our Getting Started section, you will find a checklist of things which are useful to do early on – getting commitment, agreeing rules, setting standards, planning, etc. to save time and make sure everything runs smoothly.
Teachers can use the work on the yearbook for their own CPD too.
